ROGWU invited the delegation of Norwegian petroleum trade union Industri Energy to visit Russia from 15 to 19 September. There is a thirty year old friendship between the trade unions and today the partnership came to a new level, even though sectoral sanctions were imposed on the collaboration of Russia and Norway in oil and gas development on the Arctic shelf. At the highly organized meetings some agreements, concerning safety issues during the production works on the shelf were signed.
On 15 September 2014 at a meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Russian Federation was made a decision to create a new Russian-Norwegian working group under the Ministry in order to monitor the safety issues during the oil and gas production works on the shelf. Moreover it was agreed to translate the Norwegian working norms for the Arctic shelf labors into Russian and send them for training the representatives of Russian companies and the Ministry of Energy with the assistance of the Norwegian experts.
Arild Berntsen, as a representative of the IE in North Atlantic Drilling Company noted that they are interested in improvement of the safety norms on shelf labors and are going to have a representation in Russia or may even open a subsidiary company.
On 16 September both delegations of ROGWU and IE had a meeting with members of Labor Committee, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. A.K. Isaev, the Chairman of the Committee spoke about the most significant bills in the field of Employment, which have been implemented with the support of trade union movement of Russia. M. V. Tarasenko, the coordinator of interfractional deputy group "Solidarnost", focused on the issue of interaction of the legislature and trade unions of Russian Federation. At the end of the meeting the Chairman of the State Duma S.E. Narishkin greeted the delegations in the hall of the State Duma where they could see the process of accepting the bills.
As the vice-president of IE, Frude Alhfeim said it is very common both in Russia and Norway to solve the issues of industrial relations altogether with the representatives of government, employers and trade unions. After having a consultation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway welcomed the idea of their visit to Russia and showed interest in this project by allocating funds for further works on safety issues requirements.
The final day of the visit was devoted to strengthening the relations between ROGWU and Industri Energi on a wide range of questions.
