On May 13, 2016 passed away Melik Abbasovich Mirzoev, the General Secretary of International Confederation of the Oil, Gas and Construction Workers’ Union. On May 31th he would be 76 years old. We are grateful to Melik Mirzoev for all the things he has done for oil and gas industry, for trade union movement, for international development and for each of us particularly. Thank You!
Melik Abbasovich Mirzoev was a wonderful person, who could easily find a common ground with any worker of oil or gas well, or with any social worker, or politician or with scientist. Easily because he knew the work of many professions from the inside. He was an oil well operator, a specialist scientific research institute of economics, organization of production and technical and economic information in the gas industry. Moreover, he was the author of hundreds of scientific and methodical works on production, trade union and international topics. That is why both petroleum and gas workers, wiring electricians and professors, value and respect him that much.
His working career he started in “Neftechalaneft” in Azerbaijan, then his scinteific works in Moscow after what he moved to Surgut, Siberia, where he became the president of trade union organization of “Surgutneftegaz”. Due to his trade union career he has travelled all over the country, all the CIS countries. Even not once. He knew everything about oil and gas industry in each region of Russia and every CIS country.
He was in trade union industry since the year 1979… more than one third of the century.
Last years Melik Mirzoev worked on the development of the International Confederation of Trade unions. He felt every problem of each member of the Confederation, tried to understand the problem thoroughly and find complex solutions.
Despite the busyness, he remained a wonderful Man. Remember his Congratulation on International Women’s Day, saying, “a Woman is the most mysterious, beautiful and unpredictable creation of the Universe and the World without a Woman would be more boring”. Not all of the people are able to easily and at the same time delicately and truly combine professional and personal, formal and informal. Melik could. For he was a Real Man.
ROGWU and the International Confederation of the Oil, Gas and Construction Workers’ Union is left without his leader and friend. The name of Melik Abbasovich Mirzoev will forever stay in our memory and in near time will be immortalized.
