Valter Sanches, the general Secretary of IndustriALL had a meeting with affiliates in CIS countries.
On 27 January 2017 in Moscow Valter Sanches, the general Secretary of IndustriALL had a meeting with affiliates in the region of CIS countries. At the meeting were present 19 Trade Unions from five countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan.
There was a thorough discussion upon the situation in the industries in the countries of each participant. Also, were made some proposals that can help to enhance the effectiveness of the work. In particular, was well received the idea of organizing a monitoring center of IndustriALL, which can accumulate accessible to all affiliates comparative statistical data by economic sectors in different countries. Valter Sanches supported the idea: ‘In fact, we talked upon the process of monitoring the socio-economic indicators. Some research would be needed.’
Besides, Valter Sanches, IndustriALL General Secretary informed about the aim of the Global Union to shift the main focus from the central office to the regions and that IndustriALL is going to support strategic plans instead of onetime events of the trade unions.
Should be noted that the ROGWU, as an active international union life leader, already implements such approaches. In September 2016 the Presidium of the Russian Council of Trade Union scheduled for the next reporting period the leading directions of international cooperation of the Union.
In conclusion, Valter Sanches said: ‘We live in a hard and unpredictable time. But Trade Unions never had easy life and only acting in solidarity we can achieve big goals’.
