On the 25-26 of March the North Sea Conference was held in London Great Britain in ITF House.
There were delegates present from Norway, UK, Denmark, France, Russia and Netherlands acknowledged and congratulated the ITF and ICEM for the initiative in setting up the conference and in particular the work groups which were set up to map out all the key aspects of the offshore industry which were both positive and negative to assist in the delivery of national and international trade union solidarity.
There was Lars Myhre’s report on the work of the ITF/ICEM Global Oil and Gas Alliance, presentation about the work and formal structure of ITF/ICEM relationship (Jim Catterson), presentation Mick Doleman (MUE) about the work of the ITF affiliates in Asia Pacific region, and the report of Mironov Lev –President of ROGWU on Arctic Sea and offshore in Russia.
The large block of conference was covered Sectorial Workshops: catering, drilling, diving, maritime, helicopter, wellservice. The primary purpose of the sectorial workshops was to map out the key aspects of respective sectors of the industry in both positive and negative terms and to identify haw this information can best assist affiliates in the process of delivering national and international trade union solidarity, cooperation also to establish rank and file network.
