May 11, 2010 in Moscow at the central office of OAO LUKOIL it was held a meeting between the President of LUKOIL V. Alekperov, the Secretary-General ICEM (International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General) M. Warda, President ROGWU (Russian oil, gas and the construction workers’ union) L. Mironov and President of Interregional trade union organization of LUKOIL company) G. Kiradiev.
The main theme of the meeting was the signing of a supplementary agreement to the Global Framework Agreement on Cooperation. Global agreement with the ICEM and ROGWU was signed in May of 2004. By signing the Agreement, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the UN Global Initiative, as well as basic principles in the workplace and the environment, enshrined in UN conventions and the ILO. The Agreement aims to create an open channel for information exchange and dialogue between ICEM, Lukoil and trade union organizations. This dialogue is carried ICEM, Lukoil at the international level, and the trade unions at local and national levels. Also, the purpose of the Agreement is the constant improvement of industrial relations and the development of worthy approaches to the production of the organizations of the LUKOIL Group, operating in different countries. Lukoil and ICEM, ROGWU, ITUO Lukoil by this agreement declare their commitment to basic human rights in the workplace, as well as in areas that affect the activities of Lukoil. The Parties recognize the importance of safeguarding life, health and welfare of workers and share a sense of shared responsibility for the impact that manufacturing and other practical activities may have on natural and human environment. The agreement is aimed at ensuring the best forms of protection for workers employed in manufacturing and other activities of organizations of the Group "Lukoil", and those whom it affects. Parties noted that during the period of the Agreement, much has been done to implement the commitments. Continuing development of international trade union networks, which allows to make efficient exchange of information between trade union representatives and ROGWU, ITUO OAO Lukoil in the organizations of the LUKOIL Group. There is a constant study of the practice of trade union bodies and foreign organizations of the LUKOIL Group for the implementation of the principles of social partnership. The parties will continue monitoring the practical implementation of the agreement, as well as to discuss any opportunities to improve working practices to ensure personal development and the protection of workers, relying on the most advanced economic and social principles and the principles of sustainable development, thereby contributing to the solution of many of the problems.
